Being a fan of the band's past work I was excited to hear that a new release was on deck. It's always great when a band that you enjoy can throw a curve ball in the best possible way. On ONLY LOVE, THE ARMED add some new instrumentation and up the skills on their song writing. The chaos is more chaotic, the melody is more mesmerizing and the energy is high. Some may hear this as a creative mash up of dance music style synth with chaotic hardcore, and they'd be right; however, so few bands have managed to pull this off with the seamlessness of which THE ARMED have accomplished here. After your ears adjust to the synth sounds, you can hear underneath, this is really a well written arrangement of chaotic hardcore that takes you in so many directions. Musically, vocally, and atmospherically there is quite a bit of variety here.
It's a nice ride from full blown synth chaos as the album open up on "WITNESS" to catchy choruses like on "FORTUNE'S DAUGHTER". Have a seat, put on the headphones and go for the ride.
