I came across WRISTMEETRAZOR when one of my facebook friends listed their bandcamp with a For Fans Of: .gif from god and Letters To Catalonia so, naturally, I started salivating and downloaded the three-song 'Demo' before even hearing a note. The ffo listed was quite accurate, with the band perhaps straying more toward melody, structure and more grounded vocals, that is to say not insanely screamy/shrieky.

Jonah from Secondgradeknifefight (reviewed two days ago) plays in both bands and listed the following as influences for WRISTMEETRAZOR: Neil Perry, Welcome the Plague Year, Majority Rule, Tristan Tzara, Raein, Mihai Edrisch, Kodan Armada. I think the most apt comparisons would be Letters To Catalonia, .gif from god, Black Nail and SeeYouSpaceCowboy but that's only hearing the three demo songs. "I" is my favourite of the three, with a deceptive beginning that gets into the metalcore/screamo sound after the first 10 to 15 seconds and includes a sick breakdown from one minute onward. "II" is a more drawn out affair that eclipses the three-minute mark and is epic, driving and well directed with a splattering of the band's most extremes, including a lot of post-hardcore instrumentals that are more serene than the opener and closer. Speaking of the closer, "III" is not unlike "I" in it's minute-and-change length, but the sound doesn't reach the same intensity, and opts instead for deep, dark and driving hardcore for the first half before letting loose just after a minute.

WRISTMEETRAZOR is currently wrapping up their debut 8-song LP that will be released on Zegema Beach Records and a few other, smart, sonically sassy and amazing labels later in 2017, most likely on 12". Expect to hear more on this blog soon!

    1. Because this post was made before those two things were ever released. Actually, I was the one who released that 2x7" :)

    2. I meant why haven't you reviewed the other releases yet. i always enjoy reading your reviews. There usually aren't reviews made of on the majority of bands that you write about and i get to know other bands through them.
