So on January 9th, 2016 FOXMOULDER put on a release show for their 12" split LP with Eaglehaslanded (which you can order from the Zegema Beach Records store here) and it was splendid. NANETTE (toronto), TERRY GREEN (mississauga) and HIERA (brighton falls) were the opening acts and 100% of the door money was donated to the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre. The band put on the best live performance I've probably ever seen them play and all the other bands brought their A-game as well. So let's get on with it.

NANETTE
NANETTE
Toronto's Nanette exuded their 3-piece punk/emo/screamo sound and permeated it throughout the venue. Their cover of I Hate Myself's "This Isn't the Tenka-Ichi-Budokai" was so great I had to join in and sing along. If you like Pastel or Life At These Speeds I would highly recommend checking out their bandcamp page. Unfortunately the video I took of them was corrupted and unplayable upon returning home. Sorry folks :(

TERRY GREEN
As per usual Terry Green kicked ass with their fantastic mix of emo and screamo but also played more new material which shows signs of more maturity and a stronger root in aggressive rock and post punk. I've posted their two newest songs which are great. Their next show is with my band in Toronto at D-Beatstro with Black Love for the Worst Gift 12" release party. They recently released a split cassette with Huge Cosmic on my label Zegema Beach Records. Listen to and order that sexy beast here.

HEIRA
Pretty much as soon as I walked into the venue Em from Foxmoulder introduced me to Adam from Heira. He's been around playing in a few screamo bands for well over a decade. In 2013 he teamed up with his brother in law and the two created Heira, an outfit that plays abrasive yet melodic post-punk/screamo. As soon as I heard the screams I was a fan as they remind me of Sleepytime Trio. Nuff said.

So I came to a conclusion halfway through the Foxmoulder release set, this band is the best screamo band in Canada. Hands fucking down. They've been around for almost half a decade. They've fostered a fantastic community based on equality and respect. They've toured the US and Europe. They put on one hell of a live show. Oh yeah, and they make fucking killer music. Here are all 8 songs the band played live for the release show, including the first song "Shame" where Em (yet again during a Foxmoulder release show) tumbles into the drum kit and "Increments" where the band jams out the final three minutes of the instrumental section while Em "sits down" in the bathroom. If you want to see a bunch of fine people going apeshit during the set (band and audience members included) check out these videos. If you are even remotely a fan of screamo, Loma Prieta, Orchid or Reversal Of Man you need to check out Foxmoulder using the bandcamp link below.
1 - "Shame"
2 - "Needless/Anxious"
3 - "Tempered Ill"
4 - "Havelock"
5 - "Increments"
6 - "Tesslyn"
7 - "Antrim"
