Stoked to bring you another new album, this time iiiiiiiit's...blackened hardcore, neo-crust, screamo from Brazil? Hellllll yes. This new 9-song album features just three members that are able to make a lotta dirty, jarring, awesome noise. DIY tapes from the band are coming, along with the full digital release tomorrow!!! The band has the following to say about it.
"seu curso é fixo" (translates to "its course is fixed") is the debut album from brazilian band desvio, formed by Fernando Nandolfo (vocals), Igor Allochio (drums) and Vitor Toledo (guitar and effects), which explores the space between hardcore and 90's screamo, also incorporating experimental elements. In 9 tracks, lasting 16 minutes, the record brings together the heaviness of hardcore and crust in the style of bands like Catharsis and His Hero is Gone, and the fry vocals and chaotic and dissonant grooves, influenced by Jeromes Dream, Orchid, Usurp Synapse, among others.
Despite the intentional lack of bass guitar, the use of an octave effect on guitar fills the low frequencies, forming one single wall of distorted sound that takes over the space. Over this wall, the drums explode in fast grooves with an aggressive and upfront tone, alternating between typical hardcore rhythm and different grooves with off-beat accents. The vocals pierce through guitar and drums with violent and high pitched screams, approaching both political and personal themes in the lyrics. Effects, synths, samples and feedbacks complete the sonority of the record, bringing an experimental atmosphere to the songs with delays that disfigures voices and guitars.
