For fans of: Deers!, The Spirit Of Versailles, Flowers Taped To Pens and That Same Street
This Colombian band sent me this album a few weeks back and I was blown away by nostalgia. The absolutely destroyed shrieks, the noodles, the tones, all shrouded in an ethereal/surreal haze, it's both a nod to the early days of screamo as well as a step forward. The band had this to say about the release and scene in Bogota:
Hiii, we are a six piece screamo/math band from Bogotá, Colombia. We are releasing a 7-track album with songs we wrote and recorded between 2020 and 2021 on the 14th of September. It took forever to record and mix the album because we did it very diy in a friend's room, so there were lots of things to re-record and personal stuff in the way. At that time we listened a lot of kittencore, and bands we liked such as Spirit Of Versailles, In Loving Memory and Flowers Taped To Pens, especially Flowers Taped To Pens. Right now we are doing darker louder and faster stuff.
We can also tell you there's now a screamo scene in our city, there are lots of kids making bands and playing screamo. It's the first time this genre has thrived so much here, before 2020 there had been very few bands in the whole country (really good ones though!). Shout out to all these (mostly) dead bands: Ximena!tenemosquehablar, incendiariat (probably the most important one to us), empatía, amor y rabia, corriendo (they are very much alive), ⌂/casita/alt127, Danko, Aleph es el color del cielo, algunas flores de la antigua Yugoslavia, and other ones with rough demos lost on YouTube.
