...and updates

Aaaaaand I'm leaving. I'm outta here December 13th and off to Australia and then Hawaii until early January. At that point we attempt to settle down again, this time with me being able to work from home and spend time with my amazing family. Due to me leaving, I had my last show with SWALLOW'S NEST. It was incredible. It was also the band's first and last show with myself and new vocalist Lana doing vocals together, which is how I truly envisioned the band - with two vocalists. I'll be doing a full show review before I head outta here but until then here is our newest song that we played for the first time. It's called "A Subtle Knife for New Doors" and it's without a doubt my favourite song to play live since "Moth Volcano" with my old band The World That Summer. Jam it below. You can also check out a massive post I did with over 20 New Zealand bands right here.

As for the blog mix (linked here), it has 10 songs and three of those reviews will be handled by none other than Tom Schlatter of What Of Us, Capacities, Hell Mary, NY in 64, Black Kites, In First Person, This Ship Will Sink, The Assistant, You And I, etc. Holy moly!!!

Now, I don't really know how else to get this across to everyone, but the new PROTEST THE HERO tapes, SEEYOUSPACECOWBOY cassingle and .GIF FROM GOD / VEIN split 7" are sold out pretty much everywhere else, but for the love of science and all that is rational WE FUCKING HAVE STOCK SO PLEASE BUY SOME.

Not only that, but I have even better news. I am told that the number one reason that people don't order from Zegema Beach Records is because shipping outside of Canada is expensive. Yeah, it can be. But for Pete's sake I can't help that. But we are feeling generous this December and are applying free shipping on all orders over $40. FREE GODDAMN SHIPPING. That's like $10-$50 off of orders. Not only that, but the Canadian dollar is much weaker than the American dollar. So $10CAD in the store is actually only about $7USD. That means you can buy everything in the store for cheaper than you can in the States or in Europe and then you get free shipping on top of that. Seriously, that's an amazing deal.

As mentioned in last month's post, because of the upcoming move the Australian/New Zealand store will close down but all Zegema Beach Products will be sold through Joerg from Dance Happy Doom Crew. You will also find all new ZBR releases in the USA (through Ancient Injury Records) and Europe (through Time As A Color) in 2018.

Lastly, here's the tracklisting for OMSB mix#11 that was reviewed in November:

1) FOLGORE - "Mediocrità"

2) LETTERS IN BINARY - "Figure 414"

3) METEORS THE ENTIRE NIGHT - "What's Best in Life"

4) IN THE NAME OF HAVOC - "It's So Damn Cheap to Look This Damn Good"

5) I AM A CURSE - "...to Give Way to the Pallid Hue of Despair"

6) PRIZE THE DOUBT - "Axiom"

7) OLD GUARD - "American Spirit!"

8) LA LUNA - "Always Already"

As always, on or around the 1st of every month, I will be posting a ZIP file with songs for the upcoming month with ALL specifics deleted from the tags, so unless you already know the band, there is NO information regarding each track.

During the following month, I will post reviews for those bands and link the tracks to the review so you can associate the two together. This way you can listen to a new song/band and have little-to-no bias. Below, I have re-posted the December mp3 mix that is used for this month's reviews.

The new OMSB mp3 Mix #1 has 10 songs, with three of them being reviewed in January by Tom Schlatter, as I will be moving into a new home in British Columbia and therefore won't have the time to devote to the normal amount. There are some ace tracks that include:
*-* my favourite band from Dunedin (and it's an exclusive premiere!!!)
*-* Austria's best screamo band? probably
*-* two, new and unreal Italian bands
*-* a Shawn Decker band (no, not Coma Regalia)
*-* crazy Japanese grind/emo-violence

Any bands/labels that are interested in having their stuff reviewed, please email zegemabeachrecords@gmail.com: with "Open Mind Saturated Brain" as the subject. Please keep in mind that I don't review everything, just what jives with the blog. I will, however, listen to everything you send me. I would recommend emailing with an idea for a song/album premiere 2 months prior to that song/album release date for a much stronger chance at being reviewed on this blog. Bands that have already had their discography reviewed can also submit new albums for review if they include song/album premieres.
