Sometime in 2021 I heard the AZZACOV demo. For whatever reason I downloaded it with little-to-no information and once I jammed it (and loved it) I had it in my head that this was definitely an obscure older screamo release. Oops, not correct. The demo was released in 2021 and the band was already prepping their 13-track full length album, which pretty much brings us up to date, as it releases in just over 12 hours!

AZZACOV wastes little-to-no time in any song creating a sense of direction, generally opting to start moving at the speed of light with a possible slowdown or two to give the listener a breather. It's emo-violence but not in the low-fi, super shrieky way, more like in the pummeling throat-tearing way Danse Macabre used to do it. In just 1:29 the band rips through an semi-chuggy stop/start breakdown opening that even includes some dreamy guitar notes plucked from the sky, then moves into emo-violence territory with some ridiculous speed and ferocity, and ends by serving a few screamo noodles in the early 2000s vein. Honestly, amazing song, amazing album. Pick one up when it drops!
