June 2017 mp3 MIX #6

...and updates

Hi there. As I wind down my Canada days I realized I need to step back for a few months. In June I will on tour with мятеж and will be gone for about 3 weeks. In July I will be getting ready to move to New Zealand and leave July 31st. In August I will be finding a home in Dunedin. Therefore, for June July and August I will be doing 4-5 band posts per month and my amazing friend Jesse Mowery will be handling the other 5-6.

To celebrate my love for my friends in this country and the bands whom I have fostered relationships with, I am doing a 3-day Festival on June 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2017 at D-Beatstro in Toronto. There will be 19 bands from all over Canada and the USA, and this will be The World That Summer's original lineup's final show. So, in preparation for this massive event, myself and Sasha from Life In Vacuum hereby present the ZEGEMA BEACH RECORDS Fest 3-poster collection! You get one of these free with pre-order tickets or the entire set with the $45-three day package.

The 3-day package ($45) includes:
- entrance to all 3 dates

- 6 free posters (including the 3 pictured below)
- 5 free 12" records
- 1 free 7" record
- 1 free cassette
- an entry into a draw for ZBR test presses

The weekend package ($32.50) includes:
- entrance Fri/Sat dates
- 2 free posters
- 3 free 12" records
- 1 free 7" record

The single-day package ($12-$15) includes:
- entrance to a date of your choosing
- 1 free poster
- 1 free 12" record

Ticket pre-orders close May 23rd, 2017.

Because of the move to New Zealand, Zegema Beach Records will be releasing Zampler #9 a month earlier than usual. The cd and digital compilation will feature over 30 bands, include previously unreleased tracks and be released on June 1st. In August of 2017 we will release Zampler #10 which will be a "best of" from the first 80 releases that we did while residing in Canada.

I should also note my local going away party/house show in Hamilton on May 27th. Besides being THE WORLD THAT SUMMER's last local show with yours truly, I've asked the downright sexy Terry Green to play, along with their sibling band Huge Cosmic and the Toronto behemoth Sarin. Check out the facebook page here. It's a free show!

In terms of new releases Zegema Beach has pre-orders up for both the 2x12" 8-band/4-country split (linked here) and the Jeromes Dream tribute tape comp (linked here). Both releases come with free stuff, but the 2x12" is a crazy deal cuz you can get a free LP of your choosing. The Jeromes Dream comp will be premiered in its entirety on the IDIOTEQ blog tomorrow, May 10th.

And lastly, here's the tracklisting for OMSB mix#4 that was reviewed in April.

1) HORSE THE BAND - "Cutsman"

2) SAILBOATS - "2"

***Interviews/Live shows coming up this month for sure:
- EDHOCHULI live show review with Hang The Old Year and La Luna

- nada

As always, on or around the 1st of every month, I will be posting a ZIP file with songs for the upcoming month with ALL specifics deleted from the tags, so unless you already know the band, there is NO information regarding each track.

During the following month, I will post reviews for those bands and link the tracks to the review so you can associate the two together. This way you can listen to a new song/band and have little-to-no bias. Below, I have re-posted the May mp3 mix that is used for this month's reviews.

The new OMSB mp3 Mix #6 is pretty much a Jesse Mowery special and includes:
*-* an exclusive premiere (track 9)
*-* a band playing ZBR Fest
*-* some Mihai Edrisch influenced screamo from France
*-* an awesome new German, screamy hardcore band that reminds me of Arches and Cease Upon The Captiol
*-* the sassiest/screamiest band around

Any bands/labels that are interested in having their stuff reviewed, please email zegemabeachrecords@gmail.com: with "Open Mind Saturated Brain" as the subject. Please keep in mind that I don't review everything, just what jives with the blog. I will, however, listen to everything you send me. I would recommend emailing with an idea for a song/album premiere 2 months prior to that song/album release date for a much stronger chance at being reviewed on this blog. Bands that have already had their discography reviewed can also submit new albums for review if they include song/album premieres.
