With 75% of THE ARMED graduating from the Detroit hardcore/punk band Slicer Dicer, it's no wonder they hit the ground running from the get-go in 2009. Regularly recorded at God City Studios by Kurt Ballou (ConvergeKid Kilowatt, etc.), the band has generally played heavy yet almost danceable hardcore/metalcore that bring The ChariotThe Bronx and Every Time I Die to mind. At its core, THE ARMED is a blistering hardcore band that has been heavily influenced by metal. The band veers into some rock territory with the instrumentals, but the vocals are always screamed and yelled, thus giving the band a very Every Time I Die feel. The aforementioned rock/metalcore combo is showcased on songs like "Woodenlung", "Forever Scum", "Blessings" and "Pushing Daisies", which are reminiscent of The Bronx and Doomriders - y'know, street hardcore with a catchy twist. A lot of songs are pulverizing hardcore although tracks such as "You Have Died", "No Rest Until Ruin" and "Sterling Results" and are intense and heavy as let's rip apart the space-time continuum kind of heavy and aren't too far from Dillinger Escape Plan territory.

The band has released something every year over the past six, culminating with 2015's 'The Armed/Untitled' LP that was excellent. They began in 2010 with 'Common Enemies' and haven't looked back, although their material from 2010-2014 isn't really all that different. That being said, the self titled/untitled full lnegth brought in some very interesting arrangements and helped propel the band into new territory, lest they begin to stagnate. Be sure to check out all of their releases, music videos and web pages because literally everything about THE ARMED is interesting as hell.
