A few months ago some guy named Joe posted his band's EP online. I was lucky enough to choose to check it out, as I have to pass on so many of these links or I'd never sleep. I listened to "Bugcatcher" twice in a row and was absolutely floored. This sounded like the super screamy hardcore from my days of yore - Ten Grand, Mara'akate, Kill Sadie and Off Minor. If that doesn't get you excited, you're reading the wrong blog. The band's new EP 'The Way It Is Now' is a 5-track clear runner for EP of the year (in my books). "Do You Know Mark Warm?" is a spastic and screamy romp with some sick-ass drumming while "East Lansing" is a jazzy, bouncy and melodic tune with only a hint of aggressiveness. As mentioned earlier, "Bugcatcher" is so good my wife put it down as her favourite song of the year. Clever girl.
Finding new bands is an amazing experience and I hadn't been this excited in quite some time, so I immediately asked the band if they needed assistance with releasing the EP on vinyl and voila, Zegema Beach Records will be teaming up with Off Cloud 9 Records in the US to put this absolute gem out as a 7" early next year.
