***2014 OMSB mp3 Mix #1 (January)***

(((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain)))))
January 2014 mp3 MIX

Life is busy and amazing. Let's just get this up after a quick intro and Zegema Beach Records plug. January will hold few differences, most of the same = 15+ posts per month of obscure and generally aggressive music that kicks fucking ass.

Please check www.zegemabeachrecords.com to order the first 2 releases I've been involved with - AMBER being solely ZBR. The pre-order for that 12" went up and has substantial savings on other distro and rare items (La Quiete, Raein, Mahria, Amber, most Dog Knights Releases, Ampere, Daitro, Riddle Of Steel, etc.). DESCUBRIENDO A MR. MIME orders are up and are limited to 250 (shared with Dog Knights Productions and Walking Is Still Honest Records), only 50 of which are in North America - and that number is dwindling. I have the CASSILIS tracks for the 'Quitting' 10" that will be released early next year on ZBR and I shit you not, album of the year...but it won't actually be released this year. So, I know it's a contender for 2014 in my own book - which is extremely satisfying. The song "God Hair" will be the upcoming ZEGEMA BEACH RECORDS Zampler #2 - yet to be titled. I'm sure it'll have something to do with Starship Troopers. I'm also convinced that some Aliens references will creep in soon enough.

Anyways, here are a few bands providing previously unreleased material on the zampler:
Amber
Cassilis
Chuck Bass
Greyscale
La Parade
Said Goner
Tetola93
Totem Skin
Via Fondo

Yeah, that's a pretty ridiculous roster. And that's the just previously unreleased stuff. Here's a zample of other bands contributing:

Adobe Homes
Callow
Carrion Spring
Coma Regalia
Descubriendo A Mr. Mime
Foxmoulder
Ice Hockey
Tentacles
Vi Som Alskade Varandra Sa Mycket

Holy lord, I'm so excited.

I have also included a page specifically for submitted material to the blog. If you think your band jives with this blog, send me your link and I'll post it. Check it out here, and tell your musician-type friendies to do the same and submit their stuff. It's linked to the Zegema Beach Records site. Some bands that have been reviewed are:
-Aviator
-Callow
-Chuck Bass
-Champagne Girls
-Crywank
-Dodalov
-Gas Up Yr Hearse
-Hang The Old Year
-La Luna
-Of Wolves
-Orphan Disease
-Pachangacha
-Whitemare

*I don't think any do.
________________________________________________________________________

As always, on or around the 1st of every month, I will be posting a ZIP file with songs for the upcoming month with ALL specifics deleted from the tags, so unless you already know the band, there is NO information regarding each track.

During the following month, I will post reviews for those bands and link the tracks to the review so you can associate the two together. This way you can listen to a new song/band and have little-to-no bias. Below, I have reposted the November mp3 mix that is used for the December reviews. This mix will be reviewed during this month of December and the first band will be reviewed on the Monday, December 2nd.

The new OMSB mp3 mix has a different title, and the mixes from here on out will follow the same format. The new 15-song mix includes:
*-* an extremely rare (and often undocumented) mp3/release of a very well-known screamy hardcore
band from the US (hint, it's not Neil Perry)
*-* the darkest screamo record I've heard in a long time and it isn't leaving my speakers any time
      soon
*-* a band that I've already done a video interview with and their new record sounds like a mix of
Kidcrash and These Arms Are Snakes as well as their distinct sound
*-* a Canadian, mathy, more aggressive and better version of The Mars Volta that no one's ever
       heard of
*-* another obscure track that was not physically released (as far as I know) from a Schlatter
      band
