MILANKU's 'Pris a la Gorge' took me by surprise. How the hell hadn't I heard this band before?
They play minimalistic soft passages in the vein of Old Soul and Welcome The Plague Year that lull you into a false sense of security and then explode with thundering, crushing breakdowns and low screams ala Isis, with some twinkly riffs (reviewer nods to Gifts From Enola) to tie the music seamlessly together.
It's awesome, but at times I feel they could kick out some more jams, because too few tracks hold my attention for the entire duration (5-10 minutes). I can do long songs - 12-15 minute songs don't phase me in the least. Some bands that are immediately popping into my head are Curl Up And Die, Old Soul, Buried Inside, Welcome The Plague Year, Isis, and Boris.
That seems sufficient.
I'm excited to hear anything else that the band puts out!
