January 2017 mp3 MIX #1
January 2017 mp3 MIX #1
Holy moly I am done my second schooling. I am officially a certified English As A Second Language teacher. Happy days. So, based on this, next month I will open an online Facebook community for heavy music lovers with zero tolerance for asshats and douchebags. I will moderate it but I'm hoping it will be an interactive hub for sharing bands, tours, stories, etc. that people from any culture, country or background can feel at home in and be simultaneously excited about. It will be launched at the beginning of 2017 and will be linked in the next blog update.
Speaking of January 1st, on the first day of 2017 the almighty Zampler series will hit you right in your goddamned head yet again with installment #8. Zampler #7 - MI Does the Dyin', Fleet Just Does the Flyin' is linked here and is also a free download.
Before we move on to 2017 perhaps we should sign off on 2016 first. There is voting at Form Und Leere for top picks, releases and crushes of 2016 regarding punk, hardcore, screamo and metal. I would highly recommend taking a gander and a few minutes out of your busy schedule to vote for your favourite bands and releases of the year. Go here to vote and check back again in January on Form Und Leere for the results, which I will repost here cuz that blog rules.

As always, on or around the 1st of every month, I will be posting a ZIP file with songs for the upcoming month with ALL specifics deleted from the tags, so unless you already know the band, there is NO information regarding each track.
During the following month, I will post reviews for those bands and link the tracks to the review so you can associate the two together. This way you can listen to a new song/band and have little-to-no bias. Below, I have re-posted the December mp3 mix that is used for this month's reviews.

*-* my post-high school metalcore band
*-* a new band that sounds like Loftus
*-* arguably the earliest and most influential screamo band of all time
*-* a relatively unknown screamo band circa 2005 with a strong leaning towards Mara'akate and Usurp Synapse
*-* Toronto twin post-hardcore

Any bands/labels that are interested in having their stuff reviewed, please email zegemabeachrecords@gmail.com: with "Open Mind Saturated Brain" as the subject. Please keep in mind that I don't review everything, just what jives with the blog. I will, however, listen to everything you send me. I would recommend emailing with an idea for a song/album premiere 2 months prior to that song/album release date for a much stronger chance at being reviewed on this blog. Bands that have already had their discography reviewed can also submit new albums for review if they include song/album premieres.
