THE NOW was the greatest supergroup of all time. With only 1 proper 6-song, 9-minute EP, this is the most spinnable release I've ever heard. Never has a release, in its entirety, compelled me to put it on repeat 2-6 times every time I stick the cd/12" in/on the goddamn player. I shit you not, if you've never heard this you are missing the fuck out. Simply put, one of the 5 greatest EPs of all time.

Before reading this, any frequenters of the blog could probably look at the "Related artists" section and come to the conclusion that I love this band, which is obviously apt. Screamy post-hardcore stalwarts such as Neil Perry, Welcome The Plague Year, Hot Cross and Joshua Fit For Battle are 4 of my favourite all-time bands. THE NOW is no exception. My hero Josh Jakubowski's signature metallic screamo/hardcore style is all over this band. There isn't much pretty noodling going on with THE NOW, just crushing riffs and melodic hardcore with gruff yelling/screaming. Neil Perry and the like tend to jump back and forth between chaos and beauty, but THE NOW is the ugly outcast of the family. Don't expect any pretty vocals, twinkly bits or instrumental slow jams. Every song clocks in at 2 minutes or less and is aggressive as shit, but still retains the melodies and song structures that the other Level Plane bands were known for. The bottom line is, if you've never heard of this band before I just made your fucking week.
