...and updates

A few days late, but whatever, I've been busy doing school assignments, applying for Employment Insurance and releasing the Zegema Beach Records Zampler #7 - MI Does the Dyin', Fleet Just Does the Flyin', which I've linked here. ZBR also received copies of the .gif from god cassette (linked here) and Yotsuya Kaidan 7" (linked here) so those are now available for purchase and are both stellar debuts. There are also two shows coming up in Hamilton that I want to get more people out to. There the July 13th show at Doors: Taco Joint & Metal Bar with Nouveau and Terry Green (linked here) and on July 25th at the same venue there's The Reptilian and Nanette (linked here). Lastly, with tomorrow's ZBR update it will be revealed that the The World That Summer and Nionde Plågan 7" has now been expanded to a 12" split, due to both bands having a lot of material. So stoked on that.

Here's the tracklisting for OMSB mix#6 that was reviewed in June.

1) EYELET - Browbeaten

2) POLINA - Sexposiyouth

3) DESTROYER DESTROYER - Dead Weight as Far as the Eye Can See

4) PERTH EXPRESS - Klassenbester auf def Michmadchen Akademie

5) CYRUS GOLD - Drinking the Blood

6) RIDE YOUR BIKE - The Connection

7) NEON BLONDE - Black Cactus Killers

8) EAGLEHASLANDED - Got a Flower

9) AN ARROW IN FLIGHT - One Bold Stroke From Right to Left

10) VIVRE SA VIE - War

11) MAXIMILLIAN COLBY - Right Right Left

Much love,

Dave / OMSB / ZBR

As always, on or around the 1st of every month, I will be posting a ZIP file with songs for the upcoming month with ALL specifics deleted from the tags, so unless you already know the band, there is NO information regarding each track.

During the following month, I will post reviews for those bands and link the tracks to the review so you can associate the two together. This way you can listen to a new song/band and have little-to-no bias. Below, I have re-posted the July mp3 mix that is used for this month's reviews.

The new OMSB mp3 Mix #8's got 10 songs from genres such as screamo (American and European), synthy sass, instrumetal, grindcore/powerviolence and even pop punk meets metallic hardcore. Some noteworthy things are:
*-* from a newer Euro band that's bringing the Envy and Mihai Edrisch sound
*-* chill post-punk reminiscent of Meth And Goats
*-* the ultimate screamy, synth, sasscore band
*-* from a new French screamo band that is the European equivalent of Gillian Carter
*-* two instrumental songs, a post-metal one and a post-screamo one

Any bands/labels that are interested in having their stuff reviewed, please email zegemabeachrecords@gmail.com: with "Open Mind Saturated Brain" as the subject. Please keep in mind that I don't review everything, just what jives with the blog. I will, however, listen to everything you send me. I would recommend emailing with an idea for a song/album premiere 2 months prior to that song/album release date for a much stronger chance at being reviewed on this blog. Bands that have already had their discography reviewed can also submit new albums for review if they include song/album premieres.
