I'll be honest, I only really like 'Riot For Romance!', which I became entrenched in after reading on Cave In's band update that Brodsky was jamming the record. The album is a beautiful mix of Antenna-era Cave In, Elliot, Riddle Of Steel and Nada Surf. It's melodic but has some thickness to the guitars and some semi-spacey riffs that are like a glossy and super catchy version of Cave In or Elliot with more engaging instrumentals.

I've gone through the band's other material, the 3 other LPs to be exact, and there was not even a single song that jumped out at me like the band's final output. 'Riot For Romance!' would be my pick for the closest any band came to making Q And Not U-influenced music a little more accessible. The earlier stuff is without the driving as well as the poppy bits, and the vocals are much more flat. It is quite obvious that NO KNIFE vocalist Mitch really sharpened his knives for the final release. The first few LPs are much more rooted in punk and emo and don't have the flashy production and songwriting skills housed on the final release, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of readers prefer the first few albums.

This probably won't pierce anyone's heart, but a few fans of decent, underground rock music with roots in punk and emo should definitely check them out. My quintessential NO KNIFE song is "The Red Bedroom", so I'd recommend starting there and then moving to "Brush Off" if the first one tickles your fancy.
