For fans ofLa Mantra De Fhiqria, Graf OrlockBeneath The Ashes, Oktober Skyline, Bury Me Standing, Clancy Six, EnkephalinCaitlyn Bailey, Protest The Hero, Buried Inside, ArbogastProtestant, Akimbo, Officer Jones And His Patrol Car Problems, Unearth and Ghostlimb.

According to my untested and most likely unreliable knowledge of Google analytics the La Mantra De Fhiqria post did pretty well. If you dug that band, this band has the same primary vocalist (who ends up handling 90% of the vocals instead of 50%) and plays a similar style, although the entire sound was dipped in liquid metal T-1000 style before recording. If you don't get that analogy, I'm basically saying this band is La Mantra De Fhiqria on thrash/metal overload, and it really works - although it's a shame the band only produced one 5-song EP.

(LONE) WOLF & CUB played hardcore/screamo heavily influenced by metal and thrash. The band is chock full of harmonized solo riffs, crusty palm-muting, high screamy vocals, low gutteral vocals, ... basically think Graf Orlock with a lot more metal and a bit less speed. Think beards. Definitely consider the fact that the vocalist was the same screamer from La Mantra De Fhiqria (not the off-key singer). And above all else, remember there are almost no pretty, slow or easy listening parts, as this band was around to stab you in the face with their facial hair and perforate your eardrums. You'd never guess 2 of these members played in the mathy, instrumental rock band Dakota/Dakota, as this shit is heavy.

The 5 songs are all pretty short and most clock in at less than 3 minutes. "Misplaced Mortar Gag #2" is a good example at 2:39 and reminds me a lot of Owen Hart and the breakdown that begins right before the 1-minute mark which is apocalyptic in sound and massive in scale. This song is a neck-fucker though, as you will definitely want to bang your head.

"Get Your Knives Sharpened (for the holedays)" is definitely the best banger on the EP. The dualing/chuggy guitars set the scene for the ex-La Mantra De Fhiqria vocalist who really helps define the band's sound. This song has so many good parts, which I'm not going to bother going into in detail, just check out the song below and decide for yourself if the band is for you.

"Back to the Future Pt. 4/Back to the Future Pt. 2 (Again)" is one of the 2 exceptions to the "3-minute" rule as it clocks in at 5:22. After 2:30 it has some really sweet stuff with the 2nd vocalist and baited hooks during the metalcore breakdown just before 3 minutes. The low vocals remind me a lot of Buried Inside's material, and the instrumentals aren't all that far off either, depending on which Buried Inside era you are discussing.

"If I Were a Snake I'd Be a Belt by Now" at 1 minute the guitars explode into a flurry of metal shards, while from 1:24-1:50 the breakdown coupled with numerous vocalists is the probably the highlight of the album, although not the strongest overall song.

If you didn't check these guys out a decade ago, now is the time.
