Well hot damn, we hit 1,000,000 views (all-time) last month. What a trip. That wasn't the only trip, we did a podcast/interview with none other than Josh Jakubowski of Neil Perry, Joshua Fit For Battle, Hot Cross and The Now. Every one of those bands has inspired me to an insane degree, especially within the "screamo" genre. Check out the post here, download the podcast for free here or just listen to the whole thing on youtube.

On a very personal and emotion note, I will be donating every cent received via the Zegema Beach Records Bandcamp page (linked here) during the month of April to my brother Michael Norman to help with his recovery costs. On Christmas Eve of 2017 he went to the hospital and had to a have a cavernoma removed from his spine, resulting in the loss of use of 75% of his limbs. He is still in rehab (it's fucking April) so he hasn't been home in almost four months. He has a wife and very young boy that have had to suffer through this loss with him. So our friend Luke Hoskin from Protest The Hero started a GoFundMe page for Mike and if you have the time and a few cents please donate to him and his family, as they are currently undergoing tens of thousands of dollars in renovations alone. Beginning in May readers will see the ad space I've been toying with introducing for a few years finally come into existence. Here's a quick lowdown:

During the following month, I will post reviews for those bands and link the tracks to the review so you can associate the two together. This way you can listen to a new song/band and have little-to-no bias. Below, I have re-posted the April mp3 mix that is used for this month's reviews.

Any bands/labels that are interested in having their stuff reviewed, please email zegemabeachrecords@gmail.com: with "Open Mind Saturated Brain" as the subject. Please keep in mind that I don't review everything, just what jives with the blog. I will, however, listen to everything you send me. I would recommend emailing with an idea for a song/album premiere 2 months prior to that song/album release date for a much stronger chance at being reviewed on this blog. Bands that have already had their discography reviewed can also submit new albums for review if they include song/album premieres.
