CRRUST have a very unfortunate name for anyone who doesn't really like crust music, like me. The band should be called Diillinger, Bootch or something along those lines - but not .CRRUST. Ah it is what it is. In fact, I thought the band's name was CCRUST for the last 7 years until today, when I finally did some proper research and found an earlier album by the band, to boot.

This band has one song that is worth checking out, primarily because it's not just a "song", it's almost 15 minutes of craziness embedded within a 45-minute track. Their first album titled 'You Came For The Everest You'll Find Your Way Dead' is an uncomfortable listen (although not terrible) as it combines the likes of Deftones, Codeseven and Glassjaw with some decent parts and some cheese. This was obviously a transitional phase, as the on 'Pain Is A Mere Sensation' the band sheds the Deftones/Glassjaw clean vocal vibe (for the most part) and focus on the orchestrated chaos that is the band's bread and butter.

Let's talk quickly about 'Pain Is A Mere Sensation', which is the release I purchased randomly on Interpunk all those years ago. Right away this screams Llynch's 'split' 12" and Codeseven's 'Division of Labor' with the exception of just one vocalist doing all the work. His scream is really awesome on this cd. It's very, very thick and borders beautifully between metallic screaming and hardcore yelling. They are generally placed really well throughout the cd (think In Reverent Fear) and tie in with those schizophrenic bursts of noise that eventually slow down to some proggy bits that, for the most part, harness the clean singing much better than the album's predecessor.

I cut the 45-minute cd into 4 parts, in case you don't appreciate the later parts of the cd as much, and have included the original 45-minute song as well. I personally enjoy "Part I" the most, holding my undivided attention for a full 15 minutes.
