First things first, why the hell doesn't this band have a Bandcamp page? I found that quite frustrating. They aren't even on Discogs so I assume all of their releases are digital but correct me if I'm wrong.

Oops, enough complaining. So a friend put me onto this band and I warmed up to them quite quickly. The brooding, sometimes sassy, and always engaging TRUEANDTRUE from Norway sucked me in with their new release 'This Won't Last When You Know the Beginning', a jarring, dancey, and screamy collection of six songs that bring to mind Transistor Transistor, As Living Arrows, Nikad, and Rye Coalition. I then checked out their debut EP 'Back Into Quiet' that was seemingly released the same year, which is both good and inferior. Tracks like "Blindfold" and the single/music video "Erased U" tease at the ends that they gravitate to on the sophomore EP, latching on to soft/heavy dynamics that go from groovy post-hardcore to angular screamo on multiple occasions.
The band's new endeavor 'This Won't Last When You Know the Beginning' does a better job of experimenting with the band's sound, reaching into both softer and heavier moments which inject even more Jekyll and Hyde to the mix, playing in their favor. Opener "Doomed" showcases that almost gothic/post-punk groove mixed with post-hardcore that I keep referencing, but adds even more layers and includes some nice screamy vocals when the track deeps into the darker moments as well as acting as an occasional backing vocalist. "Pin My Gaze" is the featured song from this album as it got its own music video (embedded below) and follows a similar trajectory to the opening track but doubles the speed and increases the anger, but I still come away thinking the song is pretty positive sounding instrumentally. "Hollowed Out, Pt 1" and "Hollowed Out, Pt 2 (featuring Bugge Wesseloft)" have little in common beside the titles, with the former being a wild merry-go-round and the latter begins lighter than air featuring pianos and vocals before getting demoned hard halfway through. I'd probably argue that the last two songs on this EP are their best, as "Nothing Revealed" and "Watch Me Dance (again)" are the fastest and most screamo songs the band have done and they're fucking awesome, especially with the that ever-present groove in the closer.
Stoked for the band's next release. Hopefully they'll put it on Bandcamp π
