I've been a rabid Kodan Armada fan since about 2005. So why the hell is it that I never heard about IN TONGUES until 2014? Apparently some guys from Kodan Armada started this band in 2005 before disbanding in 2008 after a 'Demo' release and a 'Lords split' 7", at which point two-thirds of this band became Prideswallower.
What did IN TONGUES sound like? Kodan fucking Armada...with less vocalists...and more post-hardcore than screamo. If you really want more Kodan Armada I'd recommend jamming "Cleanse" first, as it is the closest thing to two of the members' previous outfit. The hard stuff is unreal and is more along the lines of screamy and sassy hardcore bands such as Since By Man and early The Bled, all of which is captured perfectly with the stellar track "Tunnel Vision" that has a great ending screaming, "Where were you when I needed you the most? Where were you?". At times the band dabbles in clean/singing vocals that generally doesn't work because the singer, the trooper that he is, doesn't quite hit the proper notes (the end of "Making of a Tourniquet" is a prime example) with a few exceptions, like the melodically inclined "Self-Examination" from their demo. That being said, I know quite a few people who come close to getting off at the sound of off-key, emotional singing. To each their own.
The mp3s I was able to dig up are kinda shitty quality as someone has made the transfer with the volume level too high so stuff is kinda distorted and warped, therefore, if anyone has a properly transferred vinyl to digital collection of IN TONGUES mp3s/wavs/whatever please post them here so we can have a better listen.
