*** OSHERA exclusive song premiere ***

OSHERA
"Wave Bye, Bye to the Bureaucrat"
exclusive song premiere
For fans ofPeople's Temple Project, MatsuriA Recorded Dawn and Coma Regalia

orders open October 6th, 2025 at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST

Today I am stoked to bring you the new OSHERA jam from their upcoming October 6th 'Tamsen split' which Tomb Tree and Tiny Sounds Collective will be dropping tapes of. The four-piece band formed in September 2023 and hails from Austin, Texas. After few lineup changes they are now locked in with a super solid team featuring Jordyn on vocals/guitar, Shoni on bass, Jacob on guitar, and Emily on drums. They had the following to say about the song and band:

"Wave Bye, Bye to the Bureaucrat" is about the killings of corrupt, hateful people and putting that on display as a warning. We, the people, have the power to make change. Real change only happens when we remind those in power how fragile they are. How dare they try to shame us and try to humanize evil people after their deaths.

All of us in the band have different music backgrounds. While Jordyn is very much a skramz-head, Shoni and Emily grew up blasting Death all the time, and Jacob is huge into shoegaze and experimental music. We feel we’ve found a great way to blend all of our influences into something beautiful, heavy, and cathartic."

(2025) OSHERA "Wave Bye, Bye to the Bureaucrat" (from 'Tamsen split')

This 1:36 banger opens with everyone in the band going full-tilt, featuring some wicked guitar interplay right off the bat. There's a slowdown just before the minute mark that, despite being short-lived, works as the perfect transition to that epic ending. Hot damn this is awesome.

*** PODCAST #188 Leda XO (Jisei, Sissy XO, Hallowed) ***

Leda and I have known each other for a few years, and after seeing her play numerous shows in Jisei in conjunction with knowing she was in more projects, I reached out in hopes of getting her on this podcast. That was like...more than six months ago. We then played tag for a good few months before finally settling down last week to get this done, and it was great. Leda also plays in The Hallowed Catharsis and Sissy XO, which we discussed, as well as: Raffi, military moving, living in the year 2000, Psyopus as a salvia trip, tying music to memories, playing with Your Arms Are My Cocoon, token CIS man, a pillar of hope, gerunds'n'shit, inciting spiritual violence, the nightmare question, ugly catharsis and the darkest of mirrors, etc. Bands played in this podcast: Admiral Angry, Cloudkicker, Daitro, Mouthing, Omega Massif, and Potence. Listen to podcast #188 which is available to stream and/or download for free via this link.

*** TERRIFYING GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL exclusive song premiere ***

TERRIFYING GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL
"My Body Is A Weapon"
exclusive song premiere
For fans ofSnack Truck, These Arms Are Snakes, Diva PlavalagunaLower Automation and The Blood Brothers

Vancouver's longest running screamo band is back with a brand new jam from the upcoming 'Sad Boys' Swimming Hole' album, which there's more info from the band about below. It'll be out on Emocat on tape and digital/streaming etc. on September 26th, 2025! Mixed and Mastered by legendary breakcore dj: Goreshit // Insta. Recorded at Rain City Recorders with cover art by: Carrion Blossom (who did the Spooky Girls' album cover). The band had this to say:

This is a collection of unreleased tracks that span over a decade of writing. The first song the founding members ever wrote is in here, as well as the newest material. This is the first full release with songs written with our bassist Edward. There are a few songs in new tunings, and some sounds and ideas we may never try again. We are halfway through writing the next album, and continue to think of ways to defend screamo. There is new merch coming, and perhaps an album release show in the near future.

(2025) TERRIFYING GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL "My Body Is A Weapon" (from 'Sad Boys' Swimming Hole')

This wonky, sassy, obtuse affair begins with warbled instrumentals (think Lower Automation) before the snarky, tongue-in-cheek vocals come in (somewhere between screaming and sarcastic rambling). At 50 seconds we are treated to the closest thing to Snack Truck candy I've ever heard, but then the song veers into the darkest recesses of the band's psyche to date at the 1:17 mark and rides the shadow wave into oblivion. The song concludes at 2:09, leaving me wanting much, much more.

I was sent this upon its release and was immediately taken with how honed and nostalgic this Glasgow screamo band's sound is. Striking with urgency, the opening track "Do No Harm" wastes no time going full-tilt before taming their beast, but it's the final section from 50 seconds onward that really ties the chaos to the beauty. Things only get better from here as "Ask Yourself if Doubt Breeds Decisions" gives me Ken Burns vibes and creates a helluvan arc in its short 2:07 duration. "Filigree" is my favourite of the five here and it's some triumphant and groovy-ass shit, godfuckingdamn. The swings in this song are reminiscent of the kind of wizardry that Jesse Mowery (Apostles Of Eris, Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow, etc.) and Keratin pull off with ease. The title track "Will I Still Wake Waiting to Be Something?" has got some Montcalm and Closure going on and I fucking love it, especially those screams. Closer and only song to even come close to the three-minute mark "A Cataract, A Blurry Eyeful" borders on some Kidcrash shit and is obviously a fitting way to end a stunning debut.

Definitely one of the top screamo EPs of 2025. Stoked for more!!!

My friend Tyler showed my YARBO a few weeks back, and it has since dawned on me that had I heard 'Husband' during its release year (2024) it would have cracked my best of the year list. Their screamy, sassy, rockin' LP has me fucking hooked. Initially my brain went immediately to a Harris Hawk + Edhochuli cross, but the more I listen the more I hear The Armed and Botfly in addition to the band's own zany flair. The four piece's debut 2020 EP 'Talk Less' is decent, but I'll be focusing on 'Husband' today cuz that's where my heart lies.

Opener "Get Some" has some serious Survival/Baroness vibes with a swaggering, rockin' riff that owns the opening minute, followed by some progressions that bares serious resemblance to Harris Hawk's final material. The balance of aggression and melody is melted down into a new and incredible sound as the guitars fight for supremacy whilst the bass and drums egg them both on. This behemoth is also comparable to track five's "Tarbox". Anyhoos, that opener is followed by a pulverizing 2:41 that is "Kong Money (feat. Aurora Bella)" and the subsequent aural collapse that is "Anthem Shit", cuz goddamn that section from 50 seconds onward is fucking mind-blowing stuff. The single strummed dark notes mix with harsh screams and some guitar wizardry that arguably hits harder than any other point on the album. Phenomenal song. "Rachelle Fights God" is quirky and explosive, giving off a cowboys-hopped-up-on-5-hour-energy-drinks-whilst-smoking-some-early pre-2020-The Armed-blunts kind of vibe. "Pino Grigio Hide" is, first and foremost, a hilarious song title, but the track holds up as one of the heaviest and most visceral, followed by the warp speed dance bound by one helluva lick that is "First Time Dealers". The title track "Husband" gives you a few seconds of misdirection before tearing at the ears with a righteous good time, and hot damn from that epic midway point it goes so fucking hard.

Any qualms I have with 'Husband' arise as of track 10 as "The Elk" has cool, subdued instrumentals but the singing detracts more than it adds, as from midsection onward screaming takes over and the entire thing sounds more cohesive and dangerous. Track 11's "Degreaser" dips into more rock and punk than these ears want after being decimated (in the best possible way) by the first 9 jams. Closer "A Notion Irrelevant" brings it back to the unbridled, unstable, and wacky foundation that is YARBO, ending this incredible album on a high note.

I am unsure where the band's direction will go next, but hot damn I hope they continue on the heavier, screamier trajectory cuz that shit is ace.

*** TRELKOVSKY exclusive album premiere ***

'Le stesse cose ritornano'
exclusive album premiere
For fans of
Lentic Waters, Trainwreck, NaufraageGros Enfants Mort and Birds In Row

Today's album premiere is 'Le stesse cose ritornano' from Modena, Italy's blackened screamo project TRELKOVSKY. Their blazing yet melodic take on post-hardcore and screamo occasionally intersect with black metal and, every once and awhile, post-rock. Whether it's the raging opener "Meglio Orfani Che Figli Del Tempo", the epic and introspective "Le Stesse Cose Ritornano", or the crushing screamo weight of "Dietro Ogni Verità", through and through this is a helluva solid debut with absolutely no snoozers. My favourite jam is probably the ['selvə]/Hope Drone-esque "Algofobia" as it sweeps through my brain like a goddamned tornado. The full thing releases tomorrow, September 5th on all streaming platforms.

CARE
"D355A"
exclusive song premiere
For fans ofHive MindPhoenix Bodies, .gif from god and starsfadingoutquietly

Sup y'all! This week's premiere is from the New York band CARE who play a ear-shattering mix of noise rock, screamo, and blackened grind. The single "D355A" comes from the six-song EP 'This is Just Survival' which is due out Aug 20th for the digital/physical release drop by BSDJ records, followed by some other tapes available through Mummified Gasp for US distribution. Check that sucka out below!

(2025) CARE "D355A" (from 'This is Just Survival')

The third song of the EP detonates immediately with dirty/bassy instrumentals and some ridiculous drum work utilizing the hi-hat to a most excellent degree. The vocals drop in about 15 seconds in and are warbled, demented screams that absolutely annihilate the listener and remind me of early Usurp Synapse with even more bite and less restraint. The song itself disintegrates after 50 seconds and a repeating noise closes out the song until its 1:14 conclusion. Absolute brain melt.

For fans of
ConcealerLove Like Electrocution and Pianos Become The Teeth

Another day, another sick premiere on OMSB! Today's feature is from the five-piece screamo band from Newcastle, Australia - DAISY CHAIN. Their four-song self-titled EP releases in full on August 27th and is a vicious ride through screamy hardcore with slight metal leanings, although I'd argue the rest of the EP dips more into screamo and post-hardcore than metallic hardcore (with "Betting" being my fave of the four). Cited influences include: Conation, Blind Girls, American Nightmare, Envy, Këkht Aräkh, Daitro, Elle, Ehncen, Sed Non Satiata, Love Like Electrocution, St Albans Kids, Saetia, Orchid, etc. This sucker was recorded, mixed, and mastered on Awabakal land, by Joe Andersons at Woodriver studios, Newcastle. Cover artwork: Ben Mills. Live Photo: Joe Andersons.

(2025) DAISY CHAIN "Pighouse" (from 'Daisy Chain')

Opening with commanding bass and drums, the guitars soon meet up and push out the atmosphere until the 40-second mark when everything syncs up and the vocals drop in. The subsequent two-and-a-half minutes are a wild trek through intriguing leads, shattered screams, and genre-shifts galore.

Lyrics:

The pig I serve
From the mouths
Of the people I hurt

The pig here

'MΩTHER'
exclusive album premiere
For fans ofDreamwellRoman Lions, Touche Amore and Scenario

I am stoked to bring you the new EP from Fargo, North Dakota's MΩTHER. This four-piece released a live demo earlier this year, but this proper release is head and shoulders above those three songs. This self-titled, four-track EP clocks in at almost 12 minutes of post-hardcore goodness, complete with lotsa screaming and multiple vocalists. Influences include old school hardcore, metalcore, screamo ala State Faults, Birds in Row, Frail Body, Gillian Carter, Massa Nera, To Be Gentle as well as instrumental piano like, Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, James Heather & Carlos Cipa. They made 75 cassettes that they'll have on their plethora of shows the next few weeks (most notably at Bright Beneath Fest that takes place tomorrow August 9th in Moorhead MN. I do believe the digitals come out officially tomorrow. Cover art by Ashley Louise. Live photos by Ben Hoos. Let's not waste any time!

(2025) MΩTHER 'MΩTHER' full EP

Opener "Content in Misery" is a mood builder, but amidst the swirling instrumentals and unrestrained vocals there's some guitar wizardry that acts as a foundation, which is super cool. "Genocide of the Elder Nymphs" is next and is a direct extension of the opener, although much chuggier and with more stop/start dynamics and multiple vocalists.  Beginning as a much lighter affair (with almost AC/DC style vocals), "In Autumn" starts to thicken up closer to the one-minute mark and moves into their more common post-hardcore clothes before shifting back to that sweet opening riff a tad after the halfway point, followed by an epic finish. Closer "Le Brút" boasts multiple vocalists eating up the empty space like a black hole of awesomeness, but that atmospheric riff that pops up 1:40 or so it fantastic, as is the choppy, back-and-forth conclusion.

ALL YOU HAVE
"Shrouded"
exclusive song premiere
For fans ofIttoOur Future Is An Absolute Shadow, Via Fondo and Kidcrash
Bandcamp (becomes active Aug 3rd)

When Jesse Mowery asks you to premiere something for a band of his, even if you haven't heard it yet, it's an automatic yes. With the exception of Edie Quinn and Tom Schlatter, there aren't many others that come to mind as being as prolific and simultaneously incredible as Mr. Mowery. And as I listen to his new project with friends Azeem and Loki (both of whom have been absorbed by Apostles Of Eris' live lineup) my assumptions are totally based. This fucking rocks, and isn't too far removed from AOE, In Wolves Clothing, and Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow. Utilizing intricate, mesmerizing instrumentation, mind-blowing drums, and an insane juxtaposition of light/dark contrasting and multiple vocalists, the songs are ridiculously dense and enveloping, revealing more and more amazingness with each subsequent listen. You can check out "Shrouded" below as the single premiere, but my god it was tough choosing one because all of these songs are incredible and have their own flavor. Full release is August 3rd! Already, I cannot wait for the next material!!!

Here's some info on the band: ALL YOU HAVE formed in April 2024 after Azeem, Loki, and Jesse had talked about starting a band together for a while beforehand, as Azeem and Loki had played In Humanitarian Deficit together, and Azeem and Jesse played in In Wolves Clothing. Loki suggested adding Sebastian from Donald Shimoda on a bass after a couple of months, and once he was in we just started churning out song after song. We recorded a song for the Combustion Vol 4 compilation for Sparx Megazine that was released in January, and now we bring you 7 more tunes on our new demo. The songs talk about life, being weird, the ocean, mold, and more. All of the instruments were recorded live in our practice space 7/16/25

Considering how much sick screamo is coming out, it's harder for me to immediately latch on to bands that I hear. Thank the lord of science almighty that I clicked on the link for CHEVALIER because this five-song debut is fucking incredible. Imagine French/Italian screamo with an injection of emo-violence and hints of metallic hardcore clashing with Senza, and you've entered the ballpark. The songs generally fly by in dense balls of rage, with the occasional slowdown to stop your brain from exploding. Opener "Senza alcun segno di amore di addio o di riconoscimento" and track two's "Ora so ciò che nessun angelo sa" follow this trajectory, but by track three we reach "Preangerstraat 26" and "Si chiuse stanca la ferita" which go harder than anything else here. The former borders on early .gif from god material with dual vocals and dark/ominous overtones, while the latter goes very fast and borders on Drive Your Plow Over The Bones Of The Dead during its most destructive. Closer "In forme lucenti e silenziose" is another rager more in line with tracks three and four, giving the closing 60% of this EP the most heftiest of nods, and the first 40% a decent hi-five.

RUONA NEIDA
"Helsinki, 20 Oct. '19"
exclusive song premiere
For fans of
Past, Pianos Become The TeethLetterbombs, and Frameworks

Today's premiere comes from RUONA NEIDA, an emo/screamo band from the Netherlands formed by members of Karnabahar, Kelsey, Olše, Ostende, etc. The band's melodic but harsh balancing act is on full display, giving the band a bit of an Italian/U.S. mixture that I rarely hear. This is their third and final single from the upcoming release 'Permanent Guilt', with lyrics & vocals for "Helsinki, 20 Oct. '19" written by bass player Toon and it's exceptionally personal, so here are a few words from him about the song:

It's a song about loss, about grief. About how the worst news always seems to come at the worst time and you somehow have to make it through the day. Specifically, part of the song describes when my mom called me up during work to tell me about her cancer diagnosis. It describes how I went through that day, and how the feeling only hit me after I got home in the evening. The last part of the song is based on a poem I wrote on a flight back from Helsinki (hence the title) after I got a call from my dad that my grandmother was on her deathbed, unresponsive and refusing to eat. I didn't know whether I'd make it back home in time to still see her, and if I did, in what state she would be.

For fans ofVia FondoDaitroApostles Of Eris, And Its Name Was Epyon and Suis La Lune

full digital release w/tapes on Monday July 28th @9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST

After nearly a decade, my good friend Elina from Via Fondo is back in a screamo band and I couldn't be more stoked. Via Fondo drummer Gustav is on board as well, and their new friend Jonas on bass and vocals. Elina sent me this a few months back and I immediately hopped on it with our Tomb Tree label, so tapes are already done and ready for the July 28th release. The debut EP from Sweden's SININEN houses seven tracks, with the closer being today's premiere, as the band opts for a hybrid of gorgeous sections and heavier moments. With today's premiere, you'll get a textbook lesson on swirling melodies, driving groove, distant screaming, and song structure, as this track nails every fucking one of those things and so much more.

exclusive song premiere
For fans ofLomeldaSkullcrusher and Frankie Cosmos

I'll never forget the day I stumbled across Tacoma, Washington's BOK SUNA and becoming immediately obsessed, and I'm today to give a few people who frequent this blog a similar feeling, as I'm lucky enough to premiere the first single from the upcoming full length 'Carnate' that will release via tape and 12" from Softseed Music and digitally by Play Dead on August 29th, 2025.

(2025) BOK SUNA "honest person" (from 'Carnate')

I witnessed "honest person" live before I heard the recording and I remember being completely blown away by this track. It sits right in the middle of the record and balances gorgeous vocals with instrumentals that leap out of lo-fi, landing somewhere closer to indie shoegaze with excellent recording/mixing to accentuate the amazingness that is Yuri. Oliver from Hillsboro also played drums on this album, in addition to being the engineer, helping to squeeze out all that was unnecessary and redundant. The result is a short but dense track that lulls the listener in with power and beauty, getting them to sit at the end of their seat and gripping the armrests in anticipation of what happens next, only for the song to conclude at 1:29.

One of my first Vancouver friends was Hayley, dating back to oooooh I guess 2018 or so. She's great, and when she joined the incredible trio EMMA GOLDMAN to round (square?) them out to a four-piece I was beyond ecstatic. This podcast has been a long time comin', and with the 'all you are is we' 12"LP being on the precipice of selling out and EMMA GOLDMAN also playing my Mourn Recif release show this Saturday I knew it was time. Some things touched on in this podcast: sports world vs. art world, poetry slam hipster era, medieval as fuck, long hair arguments, palm mutes for breakfast, joining the band + Emma Goldman 2.0, god-tier sections, the Victoria scene, stankface goals, LP #2 and upcoming shows, east coast eating requests, etc. Bands played in this podcast: 88 Fingers Louie, BB Trickz, Biig Piig, FKA Twigs, Heart, and Nuvolascura. Listen to podcast #184 which is available to stream and/or download for free via this link.
